Neapolitan-ish Cupcakes

After reading this post, I was inspired to make cupcakes Neapolitan style! I used the vanilla recipe from Cupcakes! I didn’t want to add any artificial coloring so I decided to puree strawberries and add it to the vanilla for the “pink” color. Um, the batter didn’t turn out too well, you definitely need to add coloring to get the pink color. sadness. On the happier note, the decorating turned out great! I used Hershey’s “Perfectly Chocolate” Chocolate frosting. This was the second time I have ever attempted a chocolate frosting and it worked pretty well! I suggest using the frosting right after you make it. I refrigerated the frosting for a few hours and it became stiff. After piping it, it went back to normal. :)

Take a look!

At the end, we got a bit silly and decided to “fill” the cupcakes with surprises. ;) Don’t worry, it was only chocolate!

Happy Birthday M! :)
